OTLEY Talking Newspaper is continuing to record local news for blind or partially sighted residents despite the coronavirus outbreak.

Volunteers no longer have access to the charity’s (OTN) recording studio but have found a way around the problem.

They are now reading and recording articles from the Wharfedale & Aireborough Observer at home and posting the results on OTN’s website.

The group has been calling people to let them know about the new arrangement while its usual method, of delivering memory sticks to people’s homes, is not an option.

Secretary John Barker said: “The service has continued uninterrupted for more than 25 years and the team is delighted that modern technology allows us to continue producing a good quality recording for our many listeners, especially in these difficult times.” Recordings can be listened to at at https://otleytalkingnews.org.uk.
