PUPILS and teachers at Ashlands Primary School in Ilkley supported World Down Syndrome Day on Wednesday, March 21 by wearing brightly coloured, odd socks to school, to raise awareness about the disorder.
Children in Key Stage 1 also had a special assembly from a representative from Bradford Down Syndrome Support Group.
This year's global theme of World Down Syndrome Day was 'What I Bring to my Community'. It highlighted how people with Down syndrome should be given opportunities to contribute to their communities and live valued lives, on a full and equal basis with others.
Children showed off their different socks, based around the theme that people, like socks, are all different and yet the same.
