A man who reportedly had his ears chopped off in a street attack has died in hospital.

Father-of-four Sajed Choudry suffered a number of serious injuries during the incident near his home on Rhyl Avenue in Blackburn, Lancashire, his family said.

The 43-year-old has been in hospital since the attack, at around 10.35pm on November 27, when police were called to a “large scale disturbance”.

Mr Choudry died from his injuries on Thursday, a spokesman for Lancashire Police said. A post-mortem examination will be carried out.

A 24-year-old man was also seriously injured during the incident and is recovering.

Rafaqat Ali, 38 and Fazal Ilahi, 62, both of Tenby Close, Blackburn, as well as Sadaqat Ali, 36, of Rhyl Avenue, Blackburn, had earlier been charged with attempted murder.

A 13-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also charged with attempted murder.

They are all due to appear at Preston Crown Court on Monday, December 17.

Mr Choudry’s family has asked to be given privacy.
