A NEW President has taken over at Otley Lions Club.
The club usually holds a relaxed gathering with food and drink for its handover ceremony - but things had to be done a little differently this time due to COVID-19.
New President Richard Phillips received the chain of office from his predecessor, David McDowell, in the Lions bookshop on Mercury Row while maintaining social distancing.
Mr Phillips said: “David has worked hard throughout the year as President and set up a grants scheme at Christmas. He has also had the onerous task of keeping the club going during the coronavirus outbreak.
“Hopefully now restrictions are easing we can move forward and continue to help in the community.”
Gareth Dibble, meanwhile, has become the group’s new Vice President.
The club is hoping to re-open its bookshop soon. For more details visit www.otleylions.org.uk.
