THE REVAMP of an Otley play park is set to deliver ‘a huge improvement’.
Major refurbishment work, costing about £175,000, is currently taking place at Wellcroft Park.
The scheme has seen the old play equipment removed and replaced, soft play flooring installed and a new perimeter fence added.
Ward Councillors (all Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) recently visited the site to see what progress is being made - and hope the park will ready to use again in time for Easter.
Councillor Ryk Downes said: “After many years of trying to get this play park updated I am so pleased to see things are progressing.”
Councillor Sandy Lay said: “Anyone who knows this park will see a huge improvement.
“Gone is ‘the hump’, the brick slopes and the tired, dated play equipment and in its place is now a modern, inclusive and child friendly park.”
Councillor Colin Campbell added: “We would like to thank the Town Council for their financial contribution* and hope that the park will be enjoyed by many for many years to come.”
*Otley Town Council has made a £3,000 contribution to the project, along with a £300 grant to get goalposts for the park.
