AIREBOROUGH ROTARY CLUB: Last week making and distributing items of PPE equipment continued to be the order of the day for Aireborough Rotary with the main suppliers being Chris Edison and the Addingham Visor Army. Still doing sterling work however was the band of Inner Wheel members, Rotarians and wives producing scrubs, scrubs bags, ear protectors and headbands. Three local care homes, Primrose Court, Ghyll Royd and Sunningdale, previously supported by Rotary were the grateful recipients of 230 face masks, 90 visors, 60 ear protectors and 300 pairs of gloves as well as washable scrubs bags. During lockdown Aireborough Rotary and Inner Wheel are having to devise new ways of working. Zoom was the favoured medium this week for attending Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland’s Annual Business Meeting as well as hosting Aireborough’s Online Quiz, set by Brian and Mitzi Whitham and won by several lengths by the multi tasking John Kitching and his wife Susan. Getting up early to participate in New Zealand were Aireborough member Tony Scaife and Takapuna Rotary’s President Geoff Pownall (before going off to work in Auckland). Following on VE Day was a Zooming online afternoon tea from a host of well decorated homes and gardens with a competitive array of sandwiches, scones and cakes.
