EAGER to maintain its reputation for quirkiness this year’s topics for the annual quiz ranged from Gnomes and Fairies through Logos via Cats and Dogs to It Happened in January. Choosing on which round to bet the double point scoring Joker was as ever chancy. The picture round added yet another dimension before the team challenge. This final trial for the fourteen teams had them following a video before launching into making a dog from balloons. In a closely run contest Aireborough Bar Stewards led the field limbering up for the two upcoming Beer Festivals – February at Yeadon Town Hall and Guiseley Theatre in June. They were just ahead of Chevin Ramblers with least best seeing The Four of Us taking home the Rotary spatulas. It was good to welcome members from the Rotary Clubs of Leeds, Headingley, Otley Chevin and Bingley Airedale taking the number of participants past the eighty mark. Winner of the randomly selected free draw was a home member Petros Tsitnidis. The evening raised just over £270 for Rotary charities. The week before three Club members attended the Think Differently seminar at the Bridge Inn, Wetherby with Dennis Spiller, Phil Dwyer and Robert Morphet presenting constructive thoughts on the future of Rotary which is in all clubs’ hands. Much has been achieved already in Aireborough but members will continue to take the challenge very seriously and act upon it.
