Helpers are wanted to get this years annual Burley-in-Wharfedale duck race off the ground.

The fundraising event held by Burley-in-Wharfedale Community Trust will take place on Sunday June 24 - the same day as the Olympic Torch passes through Wharfedale.

The race will see dozens of plastic ducks make the dash along the River Wharfe to the east of the village, starting at 3pm.

The event will be followed teas in Grange Park.

But because of holidays and other commitments, organisers have found themselves short of helpers, both to sell tickets, and on the day itself.

The race will raise money for Burley Community Trust and Burley Scouts and Guides.

The funds enable the village to provide hanging baskets for display along Main Street and also for the maintenance and upkeep of the village’s Christmas Lights.

Duck Tickets are on sale now at £1 each with cash prizes for the winners.

Anyone willing to sell tickets for the ducks, or help out on the day, is asked to contact Tom Sumner on 01943 862940.
