Commemorative Diamond Jubilee mugs bought by Addingham Parish Council have been presented to children living in the village.

Parish council chairman Councillor Catherine Coates visited Addingham Primary School’s jubilee assembly, which was also attended by the pre-school playgroup.

Children had dressed for the day as kings or queens or in red, white and blue.

Deputy head Dale Norris led the assembly, before the jubilee mugs were handed out to all the children.

The parish council has a small quantity of jubilee mugs left, which can be purchased from the parish clerk, Michelle Holland Coun Coates thanked all those who contributed to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

She said: “On behalf of the parish council, I would like to express our appreciation to Mike Bolton and the jubilee committee, the primary school, cricket club and all the businesses involved in organising the festivities in Addingham.

“Despite the bad weather, the Friends of Addingham Primary School organisers showed true resolve and rearranged the Big Picnic from the Sunday to the following day. Villagers came out and joined in the many excellent activities.

“Unfortunately the cricket pitch was waterlogged and the six-a-side competition had to be cancelled. However, they still put on an excellent firework display.

“Many thanks must go to all who contributed to the celebrations that I hope will leave wonderful memories of the Diamond Jubilee for everyone.”
