A parish referendum on 300 new homes is to be held in Menston today.
The poll on new properties on Bingley Road and Derry Hill will open at 4pm at Kirklands Community Centre, on Main Street.
Graham Booth, spokesman for Menston Action Group, said Bradford Council planners had refused to speak to residents about their concerns, while developers Barratt Homes and Taylor Wimpey had been allowed numerous discussions.
“This partisan approach has driven Menston to exercise their democratic rights by holding a referendum,” he said.
More than 1,700 objections have been filed against the proposals.
Residents will be asked to vote on the proposal “that the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council be strongly urged to refuse planning permission for the development of sites at Bingley Road and Derry Hill Farm, Menston, on the ground that serious injury will be caused to the amenity of Menston residents if the development that has been proposed is allowed to proceed on these greenfield sites at this time”.
The poll will close at 9pm.
