Girls from Horsforth and Aireborough are part of two school teams which have qualified for the national netball finals.

Garbriella Trayhurn Clark and Lauren Burton from Yeadon, Jess Wetherop, from Guiseley, and Aneesah Kabba-Kamara, from Horsforth, play for the U16 and U19 netball teams at the Grammar School at Leeds.

Their school has just qualified for the national finals for the third successive year.

The event will be held in Southampton next month.

The grammar school teams will compete in the finals as Yorkshire and Humberside champions.

In the 14 matches each team played to qualify in county and regional rounds, the U16 team scored 165 goals conceding only 38.

The U19 team scored 223 goals, conceding 77.

Cathryn Johnson, head of netball and coach at the Grammar School at Leeds, said: “The magic of national finals never lessens and the experience and desire to improve increases every year.”
