A challenging 27-mile ride across Ilkley Moor is part of the build-up to a mass participation cycling event taking place later this month.

Bradford is playing host to the spectacular Sky Ride on Sunday, August 29, when the city centre will be closed to all traffic – except bikes.

Thousands of cyclists are expected to take to the streets for the major event, organised by Sky in partnership with British Cycling and Bradford Council.

The events have proved a hit in cities right across the country including London and now Bradford has been selected as the first Yorkshire city.

But before then, a series of smaller events are taking place around the district under the Sky Ride Local banner for all ages and abilities including the ride across Ilkley Moor on Sunday.

The Ilkley Moor ride is among the more difficult and includes stops at the riverside cafe in Ilkley and at the shop and cafe in Otley.
