Ilkley Amateur Operatic Society is launching a fundraising campaign to ensure the future of its performances.
The group of singers needs to raise a minimum of £5,000 to put on its next show, which will be the Broadway version of The Pirates of Penzance.
Costs to stage the musical have risen to £12,000 and the show has been rescheduled from March to later in the year so they can raise the extra cash.
The programme of fundrasising events will include a summer acting school for children based on High School Musical or Grease, a gala concert at the Clarke Foley Centre and a ceildh. Next year will see a Strictly Come Dancing event at the King’s Hall and Winter Garden and a concert by Steeton Male Voice Choir.
Anyone who is interested in helping with the events or fundraising is asked to call the society’s treasurer, Paul Oldfield, on 01943 604233 or e-mail editor@ilkleyoperatic.co.uk.
