A gold medal winning golfer from Menston has been chosen to take part in the 2011 Special Olympic World Games.

Ben Horner, 27, has been selected by Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure (BDSL) to compete in Athens next year.

He will be joined by three other local athletes, who now need to raise at least £2,000 each to compete in the games.

BDSL chairman Hilary White said: “I am very excited for our members, they have worked and trained hard to achieve this selection. I do hope local citizens and businesses can help them on their way by donating to our World Games funds.”

Anyone who would like to help Ben raise the necessary money should contact Barry Thorne on 01274 437093, e-mail bsr1@btconnect.com.
