Aspiring magicians, dancers and other performers are being sought to take part in the Burley-in-Wharfedale Village Garden Party.

Burley & Woodhead C of E Primary School’s PTA hopes local talent will turn out in force to support the event, which starts at 11.50am on Saturday with a traditional May King and Queen parade.

This year the parade will include local children modelling hats, of all shapes and sizes, that they have created themselves for a competition.

The day will also feature plenty of traditional garden party games and activities, including hook-a-duck, a tombola and face painting.

PTA chairman Helen Rhodes said: “I know that there are some amazingly talented people in and around Burley and I hope that they come forward to entertain the community at the garden party.

“There must be dancing schools that would like to display a new routine, magicians who would like to trick the audience or people who dream of getting to number one in the charts that would be happy to showcase their talents and keep the crowds amused.”

Anyone who would like to help on the day, which will also include a beer tent and barbecue, should send an e-mail to helen@cadesltd.co.uk or call 07917 576791 to find out more.
