A charitable fashion show has exceeded expectations by raising more than £7,500 for a cancer charity.
The Ilkley Macmillan committee organised the show at Ilkley’s Craiglands Hotel on April 22, with the support of local businesses, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The committee hoped to raise more then £5,000, but revealed that the event had raised a recession-defying £7,500-plus for the charity.
Chairman of the Ilkley committee of Macmillan, Christine Martinez, said £7,500 was ‘an amazing achievement’ in view of the recession and thanked everyone who attended and those who gave their time and generous support.
The event was the fourth charity fashion show to be organised by the Ilkley fundraising group.
