An application has been made for the renewal of planning permission to build a 30-bedroom motel on the site of a garage in Addingham.

Bradford Council granted planning permission for a motel on the former Dickenson’s Garage site, off Main Street, in the 1990s, and agreed to revised plans in 2005, but the site has remained undeveloped.

Opaltex Pension Fund has now submitted a planning application to Bradford Council, requesting the renewal of approval for the plan submitted in 2004.

The 2004 plan itself was a revision to an earlier plan from 1996. The site, lying between the telephone exchange and the village cricket club, was discussed earlier this year by Addingham Parish Council, which pressed for a clean-up of the site in recent years.

The previously approved plans are for a motel with 28 ensuite double rooms plus two ensuite family rooms, a reception, bar, restaurant and kitchens.

The official neighbour consultation expiry date is May 31.
