RUNNERS are being urged to start planning their next challenge as entries for the 2027 Ilkley Half Marathon and 5K officially open on Sunday, November 1.
Organised by Ilkley & District Round Table, the popular annual event will return on Sunday, July 11, 2027, bringing thousands of runners, spectators and volunteers together for a day of sporting achievement, community spirit and fundraising.
The event has become a major fixture in the Yorkshire running calendar, attracting participants from across the region and beyond. Organisers are encouraging everyone from experienced runners targeting a personal best to complete beginners looking for a new challenge to sign up.
Entries will be available online from November 1 at ilkleyhalfmarathon.co.uk.
The half marathon offers competitors the opportunity to tackle a 13.1-mile route through Wharfedale on fully road-closed roads, taking in some of the area's best-known scenery. Starting and finishing in Ilkley, the course features rolling countryside, riverside views and the backdrop of Ilkley Moor.
Alongside the headline race, the Ilkley 5K provides a shorter and more accessible option for those new to running, younger participants and anyone keen to enjoy the atmosphere of race day without taking on the longer distance.
Both races finish at West Holmes Field, where the event village will once again provide a focal point for celebrations. Live music, food and drink stalls, charity stands and family entertainment are planned, creating a festival atmosphere for runners and supporters alike.
Beyond the sporting challenge, organisers say the event continues to make a significant contribution to local charities and community organisations.
Since the inaugural race in 2019, the Ilkley Half Marathon and 5K have generated hundreds of thousands of pounds for good causes across Wharfedale.
The 2026 event alone raised £55,000, thanks to the efforts of runners, volunteers, sponsors and supporters.
