BURLEY-in-Wharfedale’s Walkers are Welcome group will welcome Anne Riley from Wharfedale Naturalists as their speaker at the group’s forthcoming AGM on Tuesday, October 20.

All are welcome to the meeting and talk to be held at Burley Community Library, Grange Road at 7.30pm.

Anne Riley is a member of Wharfedale Naturalists' Society, and together with her husband Peter Riley, a past president of the Naturalists, has led Burley Festival walks exploring the rich diversity of wildlife at Burley’s Sun Lane Nature Reserve for a number of years.

David Asher, Chair of Burley Walkers are Welcome said: "We are so pleased to welcome Anne as our speaker at our AGM this year. Anne is a brilliant photographer of the smaller creatures and insects that we so often miss as we walk on the footpaths around Burley. Anne and Peter’s walks are always very informative on our Burley Festival walks, but we don’t always get to see the enormous variety of bugs and insects that Anne has so much detailed knowledge about. Her talk will give us some insight into this colourful and fascinating micro-world which plays such a crucial role in the health of our environmental eco-system."

Anne Riley’s illustrated talk will follow a short business meeting which will review the activities of Burley Walkers are Welcome over the past year and share plans for the year ahead.

For more information about the regular guided walks undertaken throughout the year, and about the work undertaken to improve the footpath network around Burley, contact the group at burleywalkersarewelcome@gmail.com.
