A FLY-TIPPING 'mess' has blocked a track on a Bradford district moorland.

A dog walker found a huge pile of fly-tipped rubbish blocking a track on Ilkley Moor.

Dumped at Keighley Gate near Ilkley Road, the pile of rubbish includes broken furniture, wood, paint cans, garden waste and bags of household rubbish.

One local resident said: "The mess is at the top of Keighley Gate on Ilkley Moor.

"The rubbish is completely blocking the track across the moor.

"It's an absolute disgrace.

"I tried reporting this to Bradford Council.

"This is another impact of closing household waste sites."

Bradford Council is investigating the fly-tipping.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “Our Environmental Enforcement Team is aware of this fly-tipping incident and has retrieved evidence from the site.

"The matter is now being investigated with a view to identifying those responsible and taking robust enforcement action where appropriate.”

"Steps have also been taken to remove the waste as soon as possible.

"We urge anyone who witnesses or suspects fly-tipping to report it via bradford.gov.uk/transport-and-travel/report-issues/report-fly-tipping or by ringing 01274 431000."

Keighley Gate is also known as Whetstone Gate and lies near the Whetstone Gate communications tower.
