A planning application has been submitted to convert the Grade II listed building into eight flats, with Guiseley and Rawdon councillors Oliver Edwards, Sonia Leighton and Eleanor Thomson urging local people to submit comments and help shape the future of the site.
The councillors say the application represents an important opportunity to secure the long-term future of the building, which has faced a number of setbacks in recent years, including failed sales, security concerns and a major police operation that uncovered criminal activity at the premises.

Micklefield House, a former Leeds City Council office and the childhood home of JA Godwin, the first Lord Mayor of Bradford, has stood vacant for several years.
In a joint statement, Councillors Edwards, Leighton and Thomson said: "We share the frustration residents have felt over past delays and security issues at Micklefield House, but this application is a major step forward.
"Appropriate development will directly benefit both this historic building and the wider park community and is vital to permanently secure the site.
"We urge everyone to submit their feedback to help us shape a positive future for this vital piece of our local heritage, and encourage anyone interested to join Friends of Micklefield Park."
Residents wishing to comment on the proposals must do so by Friday, August 14, 2026, using planning references 26/01800/FU and 26/01801/LI.
Comments can be submitted online via Leeds City Council's planning portal at www.leeds.gov.uk/publicaccess, by post to Development Management, Merrion House, 110 Merrion Centre, Leeds, LS2 8BB, or in person at the Leeds City Council Library and Community Hub in Yeadon.
Alongside the planning application, work has continued to improve the surrounding parkland. In partnership with the Friends of Micklefield Park and Leeds City Council's Parks and Green Spaces team, councillors have overseen a number of upgrades including new planting near the house, a footpath linking the bus stop to the library and the removal of recycling banks from the park entrance.
Residents are also being invited to take part in a Community Action Day on September 25, organised by councillors and the Friends of Micklefield Park group, with regular weekday gardening sessions also available for volunteers.
Those interested in volunteering can contact the councillors directly or visit the 'Friends of Micklefield Park' Facebook page.
