AN airline is giving away free flights to people sharing names with top footballers.

Jet2 is offering free flights to one person named Cole Palmer and one person named Phil Foden.

This comes after news that Cole Palmer and Phil Foden will not be on the plane to the United States.

The airline decided to give away the tickets to allow the namesakes to enjoy a summer holiday.

Jet2's Chief Customer Officer, David Hills, said: “Cole Palmer and Phil Foden can be on the plane now, thanks to Jet2.

“We pass on our commiserations to the two players following the squad announcement, and obviously we’d be delighted to hear from them, as well as all their namesakes, if they’re interested in cheering themselves up with an award-winning Jet2 flight."

The first individuals to provide proof of their name via email will receive a pair of return tickets for a Jet2 flight of their choice.

The prize allows the winners to bring a partner along as well.

The winners can select from a wide range of destinations served by Jet2, including the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, Europe, and North Africa.

These flights will be operated from Jet2's 14 UK airport bases.
