Launch of new guide to bus and train times to Yorkshire Dales

The Dales Area Bus and Train Times booklet is an expansion of the popular Summer DalesBus timetable, which has been produced for many years and is much sought-after by walkers and many other people wanting to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale National Landscape.

The expanded publication now not only includes all bus services in the area, including the popular Sunday and Bank Holiday DalesBus network, but also times for trains on the Leeds-Settle Carlisle Line and the Bentham (Leeds – Lancaster – Morecambe) Line, together with a handy map of the routes.

This summer has seen two improvements to bus services in the Craven district with the extension of Stagecoach service 567 from Kendal to Kirkby Lonsdale to Ingleton on Saturdays and the introduction of new DalesBus service 80 linking Lancaster, Bentham, Ingleton, Ribblehead Station and Hawes on Summer Saturdays.

Allison Cosgrove, chair of the Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line said: “We’re pleased to see bus and train times being brought together into one booklet as this helps people make use of the railway to easily visit more of the lovely Yorkshire Dales. We have recently produced a report highlighting the need for a better integrated transport network centred on the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle line, and this is a great first step in the right direction”.

The 80-page timetable booklet is funded by North Yorkshire Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, with support from York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company and the Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company.
