Virtuoso violinist, Andy Long, will be joining Ilkley Chamber Orchestra to perform not one, but two of the greatest works ever composed for solo violin and orchestra - Mendelssohn’s evergreen violin concerto in E minor and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ hauntingly beautiful The Lark Ascending.
Conductor John Anderson said: “Following Andy’s stunning performance of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons with the orchestra last February, we are delighted to welcome him back, by popular demand, to play these wonderful and iconic works. To hear both these pieces in the same concert will be a real joy.”
Schubert’s symphony no. 3 in D and Mozart’s symphony No. 39 in E flat complete this popular programme.
The concert takes place on Saturday, July 20, in All Saints’ Church, Ilkley, at 7.30pm. Tickets £20 adults, £15 concessions and £8 students/under 18s/unwaged, are available online at Eventbrite.com, from The Grove Bookshop tel: 01943 609335, or at the door.
