OTLEY Museum is pleased to publicise two new developments that will help researchers to access its interesting and varied collection of artefacts, which were placed in storage in 2010 after the Civic Centre closed.
The museum's Honorary Secretary Jill Allman said: "Firstly, great appreciation has to go to our team of volunteers including a Leeds University MSc Curation student, who offered their time to help us unwrap, photograph and re-wrap approximately 1900 boxed artefacts. The photographs will be fed into our database and examples will be showcased on our new website, and the Museum’s Facebook page. The Museum also has a permanent show case in the Library where photographs and artefacts can be displayed.
"Thanks to donations and legacies the Museum has been able to purchase new computers and camera equipment. We have also, with the help of Hydra Marketing, Guiseley, launched a brand new website at www. otleymuseum.org. Please visit the site for details of content.
"Artefacts will also be on display at the Courthouse for Heritage Open Day to be held on September 7."
