A GROUP of lucky Brownies had a special trip to a world-famous tea room in Ilkley - and even came up with their own recipes.
Nineteen seven-to-ten year olds from the 1st Ilkley Brownies were thrilled to have a private tour of Bettys shop and café on The Grove, Ilkley, which are major tourist attractions for the town as well as favourites for locals.
The youngsters were given special after-hours access when they were challenged to come up with their own version of the best-selling scone.
The popular Fat Rascal is one of the favourites for customers at the chain of five Bettys tea-rooms across Yorkshire – the first branch was opened in Harrogate in 1919.
Brown Owl said: "The girls had a wonderful time - most of them have been to Bettys before but it was fascinating for them to see behind the scenes. They were working on their Local History badge so it was the perfect project for them. The staff were wonderful and answered a lot of questions.”
