A TOTAL of five out of 14 floors of Bradford's NCP car park have been removed so far, the council has revealed.

The next stage of the demolition is now underway as the side screens are removed and scaffold protection is added.

These changes will allow for the remaining floors to be demolished.

The works are currently on track to be completed by late July.

In the latest statement, a Bradford Council spokesperson said: “The works to demolish the former NCP car park are progressing well and are expected to be completed by late July.

“The top five of the 14 floors have been removed, and work on the next stage of the demolition has commenced with the removal of the side screens to the Bradford Hotel elevation and installation of scaffold protection, to allow for demolition of remaining floors.

“Works will continue to floor six when all screens will be removed, and demolition will be carried out by long-reach machines from ground level.”

Once finished, the site will be used to create a new, open, and landscaped pedestrian approach to Bradford Interchange, though at present the bus station remains closed for safety reasons after some concrete fell in the basement.

There will be a new green space with a link to Hall Ings and Norfolk Gardens.
