TWO Rivers Concert Band will present their 2024 Spring Concert at Ilkley Baptist Church on Sunday, April 14 starting at 3pm.

There will be music from stage and screen, including highlights from the musical Oliver and the film Chicken Run plus a musical tribute to film composer Ennio Morricone.

The programme also includes “Hootenanny” a medley of favourite US folk tunes, and from closer to home Gustav Holst’s classic Second Suite for Military Band.

Tickets cost £10 and are available on line on the Two Rivers Band website www.tworiversbands.org.uk, from Grove Bookshop in Ilkley or on the door. There is no charge for young people aged 16 and under.

There will be free refreshments in the interval with treats baked at home by band members and a charity collection in aid of Bradford Central Foodbank.

A few weeks later on Saturday, May 11 Two Rivers Swing Band will return to the sparkling setting of Ilkley Winter Garden with another of their popular dances.

Doors open at 7.15pm and music starts at 7.30pm with some easy-to follow dance tuition from Mark and Debbie of Bradford based 2/- Jive. They aim to make sure that everyone is up on the dance floor before the night is through. The Swing Band will play three sets of favourites from the classic Big Band era, plus some Latin and good old Rock ’n Roll.

Dance tickets cost just £15. If you book 10 tickets, you will get an extra 2 free of charge. They can be bought on line via the Band website or from Grove Bookshop.

Two Rivers Bands Chair Les Goldman said: “We’re really looking forward to bringing some great music to Ilkley in the next month or two. Our Concert Band is keen to show off the progress we’ve under our new Musical Director Gregory Moor. And our Swing Band continues to go from strength to strength. Our dances at the Winter Garden are always so much fun. We love playing there. Book early to make sure you don’t miss out.”
