ASKWITH Primary School was delighted to receive a letter from the Minister for Schools, Damian Hinds, congratulating the school on their 2023 phonics screening check results.
With 100 per cent of the pupils in Year 1 reaching the expected standard, Askwith is in the top one per cent of all primary schools in the country.
Head teacher Mrs Elaine Nayler said: "Our success in teaching phonics and early reading so effectively has meant that our pupils are developing a firm foundation, from which they can become increasingly fluent, and develop a lifelong love of reading.
"This photograph was taken at our Breakfast Story club available from 7.30am."
