THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised in a charity walk aimed at raising awareness of prostate cancer among older men.

Reid Haddow, 79, of Yeadon, is a survivor of prostate cancer.

He organised and took part in a sponsored walk around Yeadon Dam on Saturday in aid of Prostate Cancer Research.

Reid said: "More than 200 people took part in the walk and I'm delighted to say we've raised more than £2,000 for the charity.

"It was a great walk and the weather was good, fine and dry."

He added: "I'm a prostate cancer survivor.

"My prostate was removed completely in 2016.

"The walk was to raise awareness of prostate cancer among older men and to raise money for such an important charity.

"Thanks to everyone who took part in it and thanks to everyone who supported us."

Each year, 11,500 men die from prostate cancer.

Prostate Cancer Research is dedicated to creating new treatments for the disease.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "People affected by prostate cancer need breakthrough treatments, and research is the only way to turn this hope into reality."
