On Thursday, February 29, the senior students at Prince Henry’s Grammar School held their annual Sixth Form staff vs students quiz, raising funds for the charities Parkinson’s UK and Hug on a Tray.

The event was organised and run by the school’s Senior Students, who took on the role of both writing the questions and making and selling baked goods in order to raise money for the charities. They also involved the local community, with the quizmaster coming from the local rotary club. There were a number of staff and student teams who attended with an overall amount of £140 being raised. In third place was a student team, Goodwill Bunting, but in both first and second place were teacher teams. In second place was ‘Gins Helped, Lucky Guesses’, but in first place came the team ‘Culture Club’ with 53 points out of a total 70, meaning that the teachers remain undefeated for another year.

The Sixth Form staff vs students quiz is just one of the many things that the senior students do for fundraising for both the school and local charities. Senior student Maisy Dixon said: “The quiz was such good fun, with all the money raised going to the charities advertised, and we are so happy and grateful that we have been able to do our part.”

The quiz was enjoyed by all who attended and was great fun, and hopefully next year the students will finally manage to to beat the teachers.
