LEEDS North West MP Alex Sobel has just returned from war-torn Ukraine, where he helped deliver essential aid supplies and met with government officials.

He is now appealing for more aid donations, specifically building materials for reconstruction and tablets for use by young people.

In his capacity as Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Ukraine, Mr Sobel has forged invaluable partnerships with organisations like the Make a Difference Foundation. Collaborating closely with their warehouses in Lviv and Kharkiv, Mr Sobel has three times now collected and delivered UK aid, ensuring it reaches those in dire need.

Among the provisions transported was a substantial shipment of wooden sheets generously donated by Wickes in Leeds.

These sheets serve a critical purpose in homes in the Kharkiv region, offering protection against the shattering glass propelled by Russian missile and drone attacks, thus mitigating further harm.

But more building supplies are urgently needed for the reconstruction efforts, and the Make a Difference Foundation is appealing to the building trade for assistance, recognising the pivotal role such contributions play in rebuilding shattered communities.

For those willing to extend a helping hand, Mr Sobel and his team are ready to assist with this. They can be reached at 0113 898 0969 or via email at alex@alexsobel.co.uk.

During his stay in Ukraine, Alex also met with Kharkiv MP Mariia Mezentseva, fostering a collaboration rooted in shared humanitarian goals.

Their joint efforts focus on gathering, 6,000 tablets for displaced children in Kharkiv, which is under constant artillery bombardment, ensuring continuity in their education despite the upheaval, as well as aiding individuals with disabilities in maintaining vital connections with their dispersed families amongst other such needs.

With a target of 6.000 tablets, every contribution, no matter how modest, is instrumental in fulfilling this urgent need.

Mr Sobel said: "If you possess the means to contribute to this worthy cause, please do not hesitate to reach out using the provided contact information. Remember, every act of generosity carries profound significance for the resilient people of Ukraine in their time of need."

He also spoke at the prestigious YES (Yalta European Stragery) Conference in Kyiv alongside US Congressman Don Davis and led a delegation of 12 UK MPs to the Ukrainian Parliament where he chaired a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament and 25 Ukrainian MPs which covered a full spectrum of topics around UK-Ukraine co-operation.
