POLITICAL strategist and former aid to Prime Minister Tony Blair, Alastair Campbell, is teaming up with Labour's newly selected parliamentary candidate for Leeds North West, Katie White OBE, to host an in Horsforth ahead of the General Election this year.

Campbell, often described as the second most influential figure in Britain during the Blair years, was pivotal in leading New Labour to victory in 1997 and worked alongside Blair as his closest confidant and strategist through three terms in power.

In recent years, Campbell has become a podcasting sensation as the co-host of The Rest is Politics podcast, dissecting what's gone wrong in British politics – and more – with former Conservative Party minister Rory Stewart.

Katie White OBE was selected as Labour’s candidate in Leeds North West late last year, and has been a climate change campaigner for over 20 years. Katie co-led the campaign for what became the 2008 Climate Change Act, the legal foundation of our country’s approach to reducing emissions, and then worked in Government to prepare for the 2009 Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

On Friday, March 15, Alastair will join Katie White OBE for a night of stories, fun, and fundraising.

At Leeds Trinity University, Alastair will be in conversation about his new book, But What Can I Do?, discussing why politics has gone so wrong and what we can do together to help fix it. The event is particularly directed at students and those under 30 as Alastair will be discussing young people’s involvement in politics, but everyone is welcome.

The evening event in Horsforth will feature behind-the-scenes stories from Alastair and a Q&A, as well as a raffle and auction with exclusive prizes.

"We're excited to bring together the community for an evening of camaraderie,” said Katie White. "Alastair shares my passion for changing politics, engaging young people, and the need for action on climate. I’m thrilled he’s coming to Leeds for this special evening.”
