A PETITION to save Golden Butts Waste Recycling Centre in Ilkley has been signed by over 3,000 people.

The tip is one of three earmarked for closure by Bradford Council as it seeks to balance its books.

Lead petitioner Joanne Sugden said: “Thank you so much to everyone who signed the Save Ilkley Tip petition. We are now well in excess of the threshold of 1,500 signatures, so Bradford Council will have to hold a special debate about Ilkley Tip at their next meeting on Tuesday 23rd January.

“As well as signing the petition, it’s also really important that as many people as possible now respond to the Council’s official budget consultation to tell them to think again about closing Ilkley Tip, as well as all the other proposals which will affect Ilkley - such as charging people to park outside their own homes in permit zones, and charging people more to park and swim at the Lido. This an effective way to let Bradford know how much opposition there is to their proposals.”
