COUNCILLOR Andrew Loy (Conservative, Ilkley) used a question at a full meeting of Bradford Council to challenge a comment made by Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, who was quoted in the Gazette (November 2) saying 'there are 636 streets in Ilkley and 257 would be in the 20mph zone'.
Cllr Loy asked: "Would the Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Planning & Transport please confirm how many streets there are in Ilkley Ward and how many will be within the new 20mph zone?
The response to his question was: "Officers are working to calculate the precise number of streets in Ilkley ward. Previous figures provided were taken from http://ilkley.streetmapof.co.uk/, which states there are 636 streets in Ilkley identified by the red border. However, the street list has clearly included the wider LS29 locality and not the extent of the red border as shown on the map. The information was provided in good faith and officers will provide the actual number of streets in the Ilkley ward when it is available. There are 257 streets in the Ilkley 20mph Zone."
