A LARGE audience assembled in Ilkley’s All Saints Parish Church for the inaugural concert of Ilkley Philharmonic Orchestra last Saturday afternoon, 2nd December.
John Anderson, the orchestra’s founder and conductor said it was a pleasure to welcome so many people who had endured freezing temperatures to attend the concert.
Schubert’s ‘Unfinished’ Symphony No 8 in B minor and Schumann’s Symphony No 4 in D minor opened and closed the concert.
Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor with soloist Graham Morris formed the centrepiece of a popular programme.
Ilkley Philharmonic Orchestra’s next concert is at All Saints Parish Church, Ilkley, on Sunday 3rd March at 5.30pm: Rossini Overture The Barber of Seville; Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Soloist Andy Long; Brahms Symphony No 4 in E minor.
