MENSTON Parish Council wants to hear from local people, businesses and community groups about their aspirations for Menston in the period from now until 2040.

The parish council is carrying out a Neighbourhood Plan survey and it is a chance for residents to influence the future of a thriving village.

There is a survey to complete online or a paper version available at Menston Library. Responses will inform the development of the Neighbourhood Plan that can, when adopted by the community, form part of the local development framework for the City Of Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

Planning committee chair, Marilyn Banister said: “We are keen to hear from all sections of the community about their hopes for Menston whether this be in relation to planning, housing, shops, leisure facilities, sustainability etc.”

She went on to say that those who would like to get more involved by completing more surveys and/or coming to workshops, can indicate that in their response.

Parish Council chair, Philip Moore added: “Neighbourhood planning gives local communities an opportunity to develop a shared vision for the local area. This consultation will give us a good understanding of what local people think should be included in the Neighbourhood Plan, and what the priorities should be. We are hoping that as many people as possible can get involved, and complete the survey”.

The plan will be produced over the next year or so and once produced will go to a village wide referendum for adoption.

The survey can be accessed online at https://menston.org/parish-council/menston-neighbourhood-plan-survey-november-2023/ or from Menston Library.

The council would like people to respond to the survey by December 31, 2023.
