THE next Aireborough Civic Society meeting talk takes place on Tuesday, November 28 at Rawdon Community Library at 7.30pm.

The talk is entitled 'Children’s Favourites with Uncle Mac – A Nostalgic Trip back to 1950s BBC Radio'.

Join Malcolm Johnson as he takes guests on an entertaining journey back to the 1950s to relive 'Children’s Favourites', a long-running programme on the BBC Light Programme (now Radio 2). Find out what children listened to in the days before television, and computer games.

Aireborough Civic Society Chair Clive Woods said: “I remember most Saturday mornings listening avidly to the songs, and knew many off by heart. Perhaps my favourite was the Teddy Bears Picnic – for obvious reasons!

"This will be a light-hearted, nostalgic look back at what children listened to on Saturday mornings in the 1950s and 1960s.

"Relive hearing old favourites: The Runaway Train, Nelly the Elephant, The Teddy Bears Picnic, Doggy In The Window, Sparky, and many more. There may even be opportunities to join in!"

Admission is £4 for non members, ACS members free.

Join ACS on the night for £10 to include next year’s annual membership with five more talks in 2024.
