Children’s charity Barnardo’s is hoping for a warm welcome in Otley after opening a new shop in the area, just in time for Christmas.

The store, located in the town’s Orchard Gate shopping centre, opens its doors on Monday, and all donations and sales will support the charity’s vital work with children, young people, and families.

The charity is eager to receive donations including good quality clothing, books, DVDs, toys, games, accessories, and homeware.

As the weather turns colder and the nights grow longer, many families who are struggling financially also need pre-loved winter clothing, such as coats, jumpers, hats, and scarves.

Barnardo’s currently run over 800 services across the UK, including in the West Yorkshire region, working to change the childhoods and lives of children and families.

The store in Otley will also provide employment and volunteering opportunities for the local community.

Barnardo’s Area Business Manager Michael Mcleavy said: “We are delighted to be opening our store and we hope to see a warm welcome from our neighbours in Otley.

“By donating goods and shopping with us, customers will help to raise much-needed funds to support disadvantaged children and young people.”

Julie Haughian, Store Manager added: “We hope to become an important part of the local community, and the high street, here in Otley. Visting our store will help Barnardo’s give children a brighter future, and our store volunteers will also gain invaluable employment experience.”
