A NEW collaboration between two branches of the art world was attempted on Wednesday of last week.

A group of members from Otley Writers who normally meet at Otley Courthouse visited Ilkley Art Group at the Clark Foley Centre in Ilkley. There they read a number of short descriptive passages to the artists. The artists were kept busy drawing and painting pictures inspired by the pieces read until the coffee break when a discussion was started, both about the work produced and the value and standard of the passages.

The artists expressed their interest in the sheer variety of material they had listened to and the readers remarked on how impressed they were with the art work produced.

Otley writers brought with them copies of some of the books that have been published by them which were much admired by the artists. A request was made for copies of the passages to be read to the artists as the time scale did not allow for all the material to be fully exploited. This was agreed and the written work is to be collated and sent to the group.

A visit by the writers to the coming exhibition of the art club in the Clark Foley Centre is planned where the writers hopefully will see art work that inspires them to create further beautiful writing. Truly an ideal opportunity.
