THE Rotary Club of Ilkley has been given an international award in recognition of its donation to help fund relief work following a major earthquake in Turkey and Syria this year.
Past District Governor Rod Walmsley, as club lead for international affairs, announced at a weekly lunch meeting of the Rotary Club of Ilkley, that he had received notification from Rotary partner Shelterbox, an international disaster relief charity.
Shelterbox has awarded the Rotary of Ilkley a bronze certificate for their donation to the charity of £3,600 to help them in the relief work they are carrying out following the major earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
Rod Walmsley said: “International work with Rotary partners like Shelterbox is part of our mission as Rotarians to ease suffering wherever in the world it is needed.”
