THE recent open evening at Prince Henry’s Grammar School in Otley was a great success, with over 1000 children, parents and carers flocking to find out more about joining the school next year in Year 7.

Staff and students led interactive sessions across the school with visitors in every subject area, with hands on activities from sweet poetry to playing the drums, a bush tucker trial, food and fun from foreign languages, quizzes from across the humanities, PE with school sports leaders and mathematical challenges.

Sam, from Westgate Primary School, enjoyed his hands exploding into flame in the Science Department.

Parents and children alike had a great time saying “Amazing!”, “I liked how welcoming everyone is.” and “The school has a great feeling. Everything was good!.”

Headteacher Sally Bishop said: “It was fantastic to have such a great attendance from people interested in coming to our school and to see our talented staff and confident students welcoming them. I really enjoyed meeting so many of our potential new parents and pupils. Older students who are interested in joining our friendly and high achieving Sixth Form can come along on Thursday 9th November, when we hold our annual Sixth Form Open Evening.”

The Prince Henry’s Grammar School Sixth Form Opening Evening takes place from 6.30pm until 8.30pm on Thursday, November 9th and students in Year 11 from any school are welcome to attend.
