RAWDON-in-Bloom has achieved Gold again in the Yorkshire in Bloom competition.
The accompanying judges notes were very complementary and reflected the aims of the voluntary group.
They said: "An excellent example of what a small group of volunteers can achieve. The village was a pleasure to walk around, clean and well maintained. It is to the group's credit being big on sustainability."
Great credit was given to the group for almost all the bedding plants being grown ‘in house’. Most of planters are also made ‘in house’. The judges especially liked the mobile planters.
The judges said communication and involvement with the community was particularly impressive, with effort made to involve all age groups, local schools, cubs, and D of E volunteers.
They added: "A strong entry with a good community feel with future plans to further improve the environment."
