MORE than 200 people visited Otley Courthouse on Saturday, September 9 for a Heritage Open Day.
The theme of ‘Creativity Unwrapped ‘was illustrated in a wide variety of ways, from films about crime writing to a crochet class for beginners. Leeds Library lent copies of some of the 83 crime novels written by John Wainwright, who was a police officer at the Courthouse in the 1960s.
Otley Museum provided a fascinating display of hand made costume including hats, shoes and underwear.
Vickie Orton told stories about crimes both real and imaginary and Otley Players staged two outdoor theatre performances of ‘When Turner met Fawkes’, specially written for the occasion.
A spokesperson for Otley Courthouse said: "Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped by making the films and showing visitors round this historic building on the day."
