COCK Pit Farm Tea Rooms is celebrating 14 years of business - three at its current home at Burley Grange, Station Road, Burley-in-Wharfedale.

Sue Sansbury opened Cock Pit Farm Tea Rooms in Weston near Otley in 2009 serving home made cakes and bakes and scones and freshly made lunches.

Sue said: "We built up a great clientele and many of them still visit us today. Over the time we were in Weston, we raised £36,000 for local charities. On our 10 anniversary we were told that the landlord wanted the property back and we would have to leave."

It was a hammer blow for Sue who lost her home and business in one fell swoop. However, after many near misses she secured a great new location in Burley-in-Wharfedale three years ago.

Over the years the business has survived a pandemic and several recessions and hopes to keep going for any more years.

Sue added: "Please support us and your local independent businesses. It's tough out there at the moment. We've been in Burley for three years now and if any of our old customers haven't found us again yet, we'd love to see you. We miss you. We hope to start up our charity work again soon now that we are established in Burley.

"Hopefully our legendary quizzes will be back in the near future. Thanks to all my staff past and present and our wonderful customers for their support. We can't do it without you."
