THE team behind McCarthy Stone’s Summer Manor retirement living development in Burley-in-Wharfedale is proud to be supporting the community by making a series of donations to local community groups and clubs, including the Burley Bowling Club and St Mary’s Parish Church Flower Festival.

The developer and manager of retirement communities installed a new path at the bowling club to increase accessibility for its members between the new equipment shed to the green. The support also included a £150 donation from McCarthy Stone to provide funding for bowling tournaments, Yorkshire Ladies Merit in May and Harry Wise Trophy in June.

McCarthy Stone sponsored a key event in the local calendar, the annual Flower Festival. Organised and hosted by St Mary’s Church, the developer contributed £100 to part-fund one of the leading flower displays, ‘Around the pulpit’, at the festival in conjunction with other local businesses and schools.

Tracey Lowe, Area Sales Manager at McCarthy Stone, said: “Here at McCarthy Stone, we appreciate our responsibilities go further than creating high-quality retirement apartments; we also aim to support the activities and places that contribute to the local community, especially those that improve the wellbeing of those later in life.”

“We’re delighted to support the Bowling Club and the team at St Mary’s Parish Church and look forward to building long-lasting relationships with them. This autumn, our Retirement Living development, Summer Manor, will welcome its first homeowners, and we know how important these local community groups and clubs will become for them, so it was our pleasure to lend our support.”

Summer Manor will comprise of 24 one-bedroom and 18 two-bedroom spacious retirement apartments designed for the over 60s. Show apartments are now available to view.

Homeowners can enjoy the communal lounge and landscaped garden. Should family or friends wish to say overnight, they can take advantage of a guest suite. A house manager will oversee the development during office hours, while there is a camera entry system and a 24/7 call system.
