THE King’s Hall and Winter Garden is welcoming two major health and wellness events this September focusing on wellbeing for mind, body and soul.

The Healing Alternatives Festival on Saturday, September 16th and Sunday 17th offers a weekend of complementary and alternative therapies, psychic readings and workshops and includes exhibitors from across the UK.

The event also boasts retail opportunities with specialist book stalls, crystals, health supplements, gifts, jewellery, aromatics, and unique items for the home.

Festival organiser, Judy Beckett says that the event will be a great experience for all attendees: “Visitors can try a holistic therapy taster from a broad range including Reflexology or Reiki, have a reading with a psychic medium or explore new approaches to improve their health and wellbeing. They can consult with practitioners from a various traditions including chiropractors, homeopaths, acupuncturists, Bowen therapists, herbalists, energy healers and many more besides.

“Back by popular demand, there will also be free workshops for our visitors to enjoy. The shamanic journeys by Katharine Haworth have been a particular favourite but there are more familiar sessions including yoga and techniques for managing stress.

“We’re really excited to bring this event to The King’s Hall; we know that many people have wonderful memories of the Ilkley Complementary Medicine Festival and we feel so lucky to have the opportunity to organise something similar.”

Refreshments will be provided over the festival weekend by local business Arlo and its pop-up cafe.

Tickets are available on the door £5 per day or £8 for the weekend. Under 16s are free (must be accompanied by an adult) and reduced price tickets are available in advance on Eventbrite.

The Healing Alternatives Festival is then followed on Saturday, September 30th by the second Ilkley BID Health & Wellness event which brings together the crème de la crème of the town’s health and wellbeing professionals to showcase their services and values.

Participating local health and wellness businesses include gyms and fitness studios, activewear stockists, stores selling luxury products with health benefits, movement and pain relief providers and health and beauty salons. There will also be live demonstrations, industry speakers and product sampling, as well as fun fitness activities for the children.

Lisa Drake, Ilkley BID Project Coordinator, says: “Ilkley has long been known as a place to boost health and fitness, and the aim of holding our Health & Wellness event is to highlight the individual businesses who make the town such a mecca for those wanting to improve their body and mind as well as encouraging people to improve their fitness and enhance their overall wellbeing.

“We had such positive feedback about our inaugural event last year from both exhibitors and visitors and we’re really excited to be able to showcase and promote all the amazing health, beauty and wellness businesses that we have in Ilkley again this year, as well as highlighting the importance of physical and mental wellbeing”.

The Ilkley BID Health & Wellness Event takes place on Saturday, September 30th from 10am to 3pm and is free to attend.
