NEW figures have revealed the most and least expensive neighbourhoods to buy property in the Bradford district.

Office for National Statistics figures show Ilkley was the priciest, with a median value of £405,000 among the 221 sales in the area last calendar year.

The next most expensive was the Wharfedale area, where a house could set you back £385,000, and Baildon, which had a median price of £257,250 in 2022.

Meanwhile, the City neighbourhood saw the lowest house prices, with buyers paying an average of £80,000 across 91 sales last year.

This was followed by Bowling and Barkerend, and Little Horton, where buyers spent £87,000 and £90,000 respectively.

Across the country, property sales have slowed significantly in the past year.

There were 700,000 sales across England and Wales in the year to December 2021 – down from a recent peak of more than 1.1 million in the year to September 2021.

Overall, house prices have remained steady, with a median price of £280,000 last year – a £5,000 increase on the year before.

In Bradford, the average house cost £159,950 in 2022 – up from £154,250 a year before.

The number of properties sold dropped, from 8,312 in 2021 to 6,287 last year.
