Specialist triathlon shop, Triangle, which has been a staple of Guiseley for over 25 years, has been saved from closure following the tragic death of owner Adam Nevins in April of this year.

Triangle, which has counted GB athletes amongst its customers, has been acquired by J’s Cycles following a special request by Adam’s family. The new owners will continue to build on the foundation that Adam created in maintaining the shop as a triathlon specialist resource with the aim of supporting and fostering the next generation of triathletes and cyclists.

The shop, which will reopen its doors on Saturday 1st July, will be managed by ex-professional triathlete, Elliot Smales, who will be able to provide expert advice when it comes to everything swim, bike and run related.

James Wagner, Managing Director at J’s Cycles, says: “Adam’s family have been involved in the process every step of the way and have provided support to ensure that Triangle continues to thrive and benefit its local community as well as cycle and multisport athletes. I am looking forward to welcoming Triangle’s current and new customers to the opening.”

Elliot Smales adds: “Having enjoyed a successful career in triathlon and having spent much of that time training and based in Leeds, I have heard nothing but great things about triangle. I'm extremely saddened at the passing of Adam and I hope we can make him and his family proud in retaining the triangle legacy and keeping the business going.”

Established in 2014 J’s cycles has become one of the north’s fastest growing bicycle retail businesses. Triangle will be the 4th bricks and mortar across Yorkshire, along with an ecommerce store.

Mr Nevins, of Menston, died in Leeds General Infirmary on April 7, after being seriously injured in a road traffic accident on April 2. He was riding his motorcycle along the B6161 Leathley Lane near Otley at around midday. He was struck by a green tractor.

An inquest at North Yorkshire Coroner’s Court opened in April and was adjourned to a later date.
