Reservations are now being taken at a brand new retirement community in Burley-in-Wharfedale, built by McCarthy Stone.

The first phase of apartments in the development, known as Summer Manor, are now available to reserve off-plan, ahead of the sales office opening in mid-July. The development is due to complete ready for homeowners to move in this autumn.

Dacre, Son & Hartley, which has an office in Burley-in-Wharfedale, has been appointed to market the development.

Summer Manor occupies the site of the former Generous Pioneer pub, and consists of 42 one and two-bedroom apartments for the over 60s.

The development will offer landscaped gardens, a communal lounge and parking. The latest safety and security features are also being incorporated into the development including a 24-hour emergency call system, fire detection and video door entry, as well as the reassurance of an onsite house manager during office hours.

Fiona Brooks, sales and marketing director from McCarthy Stone, said: “All our retirement developments are designed to encourage a community feeling to flourish, while offering residents the complete privacy of their own contemporary retirement apartments, and that’s exactly how Summer Manor has been designed. The development will offer stylish communal spaces including a lovely lounge and gardens, ideal for meeting friends and neighbours for a drink and a chat. In addition, there’s a luxurious hotel-style guest suite and parking for when visitors come to stay.

“We’re already taking reservations from both local people and those from outside the area, who are keen to live in Burley-in-Wharfedale, which demonstrates the level of demand for high quality retirement communities in this highly sought after village.”

Lesley Shakeshaft, who heads up Dacre, Son & Hartley’s Burley in Wharfedale office, said: “Summer Manor promises to be a very popular development within easy walking distance of Burley-in-Wharfedale’s independent shops, pubs and eateries. There’s also superb countryside, including the famous Cow & Calf, just a short drive away, as well as regular bus and rail links to the likes of Ilkley, Guiseley, Leeds and Bradford.

“There’s a definite shortage of purpose-built retirement developments in the local area so we’re very excited to be launching these apartments. Anyone interested should contact us now to find out more and book to view the development’s show apartment, which will be unveiled in July, and will offer a real feel for the style and quality of these homes.”

Prices at Summer Manor start at £300,000 for a one-bedroom apartment or £400,000 for a two-bedroom apartment and there are also flexible purchasing opportunities, where residents can part buy and part rent homes.
